Old Trikeri island is a true paradise for those who love noiselessly and car-free places.
The only attraction is the impressive monastery of Panagia Evangelistria (Virgin Mary), situated in the highest peak, just 129 meters. The monastery is dedicated to Virgin Mary and built in 1825 when the icon of Panagia was found at the root of an olive tree.
The monastery is well-preserved and some of its wonderful cells are functional and offered for accommodation at an extremely low price. There are no more nuns left at the convent; only some local women work as a caretakers.
